**Large base UHF direction finder P-730**, **Rohde & Schwarz NP 5**; manufactured by [[Rohde & Schwarz|Rohde & Schwarz, Munich]].

The Rohde & Schwarz NP 5 large base Doppler direction finding system was used for direction finding in the military UHF Air band. Seven units were acquired in 1967 and they were installed as UHF aeronautical direction finders at the Emmen, Dübendorf and Payerne military airfields and at three mountain sites.

===== Operation =====
The system consists of the UHF receiver **ED80** with multi-channel oscillator ED 10/8, the demodulator NA 406/4 and NA 606, the reference phase array NA 607 and the direction finder NA 603 as well as the direction finding antenna NA 501.

The **UHF aeronautical radio receiver ED80** covers the military UHF aeronautical radio range with 225 - 400 MHz, it has a fixed frequency by means of a quartz oscillator and can alternatively be tuned by means of a VFO; it also has an analogue dial with a conventional tuning knob.

The large base UHF direction finding system NP 5 developed by [[Rohde & Schwarz]] around 1965 was acquired in seven units for the Air Force in 1967. The system was used for air traffic control and surveillance at the Emmen, Dübendorf and Payerne military airfields and at three mountain sites.

The P-730 / NP 5 systems were in operation until 2011.
