| Description |
Work started on the development of this tube at the GE laboratories in the summer of 1932 and it was assigned the type number early in 1933. It was released to the public in April of that year. The tube has a shielded element structure, which varies in design, depending on the manufacturer.

This Philips 866A is much smaller then the American type: D=45 mm, H= 150mm and is in fact a DCG4-1000G.
