RF - direction finding system P-733, Plath SFP 5200; manufactured by C. Plath GmbH, Hamburg.

The Plath - SFP 5200 HF direction finding system partially replaced the P-732 / SFP 5000 system for HF radio monitoring by the EKF; it was used from 1990 to approx. 2007.

Operation

The P-733 / Plath SFP 5200 system consists of the PET 5200 receiver section and the SAG 5200 display section, the PSO 5200 synthesizer, PZF 5200 IF processor and BET 5200 control and input keypad in one unit.

The 8/16-fold U-Adcock antenna AK1200D from Telefunken is used as the DF antenna, with an inner base with a diameter of 8 m and an outer base with a diameter of 36 m. It was partially replaced in 2003 by Plath U646 antennas (diameters 10 / 40 m).

The systems remained in use until 2007 and were liquidated in 2008 and replaced after a transitional period by the Plath DDF 5050 (SFP 5050) digital direction finding system, which got the designation P-765.

Thirteen of the SFP 5200 HF direction finding systems developed by Plath after 1983 were acquired in 1990 for the EKF's electronic radio reconnaissance; the P-733 system remained in service until 2007 and was liquidated in 2008.
