RAS-227
Relay unit SE-227; probably manufactured by Crypto AG, Zug.
Relay unit RAS-227 was used to form a relay station with two SE-227 stations and SVZ-B crypto units in order ensure a relay connection with electronic encryption.
Technical data
- Principle: Relay unit
Power supply
- Batteries: 10 -30 V
Dimensions
- 285 x 68 x 280 mm, approx. 3 kg
Accessories
- Various accessory bags, containing the SVZ-227/01…4 and SVZ-412/01..2 cables depending on the planned relay setup
- The bag for the RAS-227 contains a 15 m and a 0.3 m SVZ-227/01 cable in addition to the set.
Operation
The relay unit RAS-227 is used to establish encrypted relay connections in a radio network with SE-227 sets and voice encryption units SVZ-B.
Unmanned permanently switched relays can operate without an SVZ-B at the relay location; if the operator at the relay location wants to connect to the communication, a voice encryption device SVZ-B is required at the relay location.
The signal received from the distant tranmitter is fed to the RAS-227, the signal is regenerated to increase the transmission quality and fed to the transmitting SE-227 set to be forwarded to the next receiving station. If the operating personnel at the relay location want to switch on the communication, an additional SVZ-B with the same cryptological key must be connected on site. This is connected to the 14-pin plug connection „SVZ-B“. The two SE-227 radio devices at the relay location are connected to the „SE1“ and „SE2“ connections. A microtel for unencrypted service connections can be connected to the AUDIO connection.
The operating switch is used to select the various modes, LEDs indicate the status:
- MONITOR: operation can be monitored
- SE1: an encrypted voice connection is possible between the relay location and Station 1
- SE2: an encrypted voice connection is possible between the relay location and Station 2
- RETRANSMIT: the sets are switched as relays.
For relay connections with two SE-412 radios, there is the RAS-412 relay switching device, for which two SVZ-B voice encryption devices are required at the relay location.
