+====== SE-304: A-Station ======
 +**High Power Shortwave Ground Station A**, **A-Station ** or **SE-304**; made by Telefunken, Berlin.

 +The mobile 1.2 kW shortwave station in 1936/7 wand was used as "A-Station" of the Air Force resp. **High Power shortwave ground station A**; according to the new nomenclature, it later got the designation SE-304 even though it was already obsolete.

 +
 +===== Station Material =====
 +The 1.2 KW high power shortwave ground radio station "A-Station" was developed by Telefunken Berlin 1932/1933; four stations have been acquired in 1935/36 and handed over to the Aif Force units as high power shortwave station A, so-called "A station".
 +
 +The station is housed in a two-axle trailer which acts as apparatus trailer (4310 kg) with alle transmitting and receiving equipment and a 14 m telescopic antenna mounte on the side of the  trailer. There is a second single-axle trailer which acts as generator trailer (1950 kg). A 20 hp gasoline engine operates the three-phase generator (380 V, 50 Hz, 9 kVA).
 +
 + The three stage Transmitter Telefunken S 344F is tunable in two ranges from 3 - 6 MHz by means of variometers; in the antenna tuning circuit, also several variometers are used. Two operating frequencies can be pretuned.\\
 +In the transmitter, six lalves de:MF6 are used in the audio stages, two de:RS291 in the driver and intermediate stage and two grid modulated de:RS284 in the push-pull final stage.
 +
 +The station has an output power of 1200 W in CW telegraphy (A1) and 350 watts in modulated telegraphy and telephony (A3).
 +
 +A two tuned circuit Telefunken TRF receiver operated from 4V heaters and 180 V plate batteries is used. The receiver is equipped with three de:RES094 and five RE084K, the exact designation of the receiver is still unknown to me.
 +
 +===== Technical Principle =====
 +**Transmitter** S344F: three stage transmitter, tunable with variometers in two ranges; grid-modulated push-pull final stage. Two operating frequencies pre tuned.
 +
 +==== Valve Layout ====
 +**Transmitter** S344F: six de:MF6 (according to Ritter de:MF4?) in the small signal stages, two de:RS291 in driver and intermediate stage and two de:RS284 in the final output stage.
 +
 +==== Development ====
 +The radio station was developed by Telefunken, Berlin in 1932/33 and four stations were acquired at a unit price of 312,000 sFr. to be used by the Air Force command.
 +
 +==== Mission ====
 +The A-Station was used as a wireless ground station and operated by signalmen of the Air Force signals.
 +
 +The A-Station / SE-304 came out of service after transfer of aircraft communications into the VHF Air band in 1947. The high power station was assigned to the war reserve and was finally liquidated in 1963, the new designation SE-304 was given only after decommissioning.
