Bendix Corporation
The company was founded by Vincent Bendix around 1914 and was initially active in the development of bicycle and automobile brakes.
Around 1937, the Bendix Radio Division was founded and became one of the most important manufacturers in avionics, producing measuring instruments and radio communication sets for air traffic. In the post-war years, the business field was expanded to include the manufacture of radar systems.
Later, Bendix was also active in the field of rocket development, manufactured ground-to-space communication equipment for NASA and was also given tasks in the Apollo programme.
The company later carried out hostile takeovers of competitors, was itself the victim of a hostile takeover and was acquired by the Allied Corporation in 1983.
