R-915
Microwave relay system R-915; manufactured by STR / Alcatel / Thales Zurich.
For the Integrated Military Telecommunications System IMFS, which was under development from the 1970s, a successor system for the R-902 had to be developed, which had a significantly higher transmission capacity.
The development of the 5 GHz station R-915 began at STR / Alcatel around 1977, the sets were delivered from 1990.

Station material
On the transmitter side, the signal bundle is fed from the MK-7 multiplexer via the CZ-1 bundle scrambler to the signal input section of the transmitter, the service communications channel signal is also mixed with the signal bundle.
In the receiver, the HDB3-coded signal (2048 kbit/sec.) is separated from the audio signal of the service communications channel and the control signals of the transceiver and fed to a CZ-1 crypto unit, where it is decoded and split into the individual speech channels which are fed to the individual recipients.

Development
The development of the 5 GHz station R-915 began at STR in 1977; the first prototypes were ready in 1979. After the Army had updaten their technical requirements, a next development phase took place in 1983-1985 and the station went into production in 1988/1990. A pre-series system was delivered to the troops for techncial evaluation in 1990, the first badge of 542 sets was delivered in 1990-1993 and a second badge of 100 sets in 1995.
