Station material
The AN/ARN-7 radio compass, a successor of the SCR-269 radio compass with automatic direction finding, was used in different kind of aircraft for navigation support. The total weight of the system was 34 kg. When tuned to a (long wave) beacon of an airfield or a broadcast radio transmitter (medium wave) with a known frequency and location, the corresponding bearing is shown in the display instrument.

Development
As the successor to the SCR-269 radio compass developed by Fairchild Electronics, the AN/ARN-7 was introduced into the US Air Force around March 1944.
